Speaking to vegetation is more complex. Without magic, most mundane vegetation are inanimate and don’t have senses like humanoids do. Your DM could make it possible for mundane vegetation to reply to very simple commands, like asking a venus fly lure to open or shut, but anything beyond the plant’s standard capabilities would have to have magic
